Absolute Truth and The New Tolerance
A Glance        

 

Universal Absolute Truth-

 

An Objective Right or Wrong that applies to all people, all times, and all places.

Origin of Absolute Truth:

 

God is the Origin of Truth; from whom we have been given God’s Standards which are displayed and decreed in The Bible.

The Bible is from where we derive Morality and Righteousness. And, from this we derive our Values and a compass for Justice.

 

In Reverse…Justice is Derived from Absolute Truth:

 

Justice is not possible without Absolute Truth and if one says Actions and Words are unjust, we must assume that a moral order does exist outside of oneself.

Injustice implies that Justice exists.

Justice implies Moral Laws exist.

Moral Laws imply that there is a Moral Law Giver, hence, God is the Origin of Absolute Truth.

 

Mankind can observe the world scientifically because they expect Law in Nature, and they expect Law in Nature because they believe in a Legislator.

 

Postmodernists and the Woke complain about how various power structures are unfair, and they are always demanding sensitivity, tolerance, and justice. Do they not realize that they are appealing to transcendent, authoritative moral absolutes?

 

Traditional Tolerance:

 

Asserts that everyone has an equal right to believe or to say what he thinks is right.

 

The New Tolerance:

 

All values, all Beliefs, all Lifestyles, all Truth Claims are EQUAL. 

 

Origin of The New Tolerance:

 

Truth is relative to the community in which a person participates. And, since there are human communities, there are necessarily many different Truths, of which all are equal.

Since Truth is Described by Language, and all Language is created by humans, then all Truth is Created by Humans.

 

If all Truth is created by humans, and all humans are “created equal” … All Truth is Equal. 

If one’s beliefs are equal and my beliefs are equal, then all Truth is Relative. There is no hierarchy.

 

Thus, The New Tolerance requires Approval and Endorsement of all Lifestyles, Beliefs, and Values.

 

In contrast to “Traditional Tolerance”, the New Tolerance says that what every individual believes or says is Equally Right, Equally Valid. 

 

So, not only does everyone have an equal right to his beliefs, but All BELIEFS are equal. All VALUES are equal. All LIFESTYLES are equal. All TRUTH CLAIMS are equal.

 

Traditional Tolerance:

“Everyone has a right to their opinion.”

 

The New Tolerance:

“Everyone’s opinion is right.”

 

The New Tolerance endorsed by U.S. Courts:

 

Since the Declaration of Independence says, “all are created equal”, then, not only do “adherents of all faiths deserve equal rights as citizens”, but “all faiths are equally valid as religions.”

 

The New Tolerance rejects exclusive Religions. Approaching anyone with the Gospel (or, your own view), implies that the beliefs of others are inferior to your own. One is considered self-righteous, bias, and Intolerant.

 

Even to not want to participate or celebrate the opinions of others is judged as animus against that person – it is a rejection of them. 

 

Only Religions that say, “All Religions are True” can be Tolerated.

 

What happens when Absolute Truth is Replaced with The New Tolerance?

 

If there is no Absolute Truth, then truth is Relative and subject to only man’s ideas – Right and Wrong differ from person to person, culture to culture.

 

There is the Death of Truth. Morality is dead.

 

There is no final appeal to Judge between individuals and groups in conflict. We are left with conflicting opinions that are all EQUAL.

 

If there are no Absolutes then:

 

No Justice Remains – Justice is not possible without Truth. If one says Actions/Words are unjust, we must assume that a moral order outside of oneself does not exist. Justice cannot be the deciding factor any longer. What wins is… the loudest majority, and the most outlandish Opinion. Whoever stirs up the most Fear and Outrage receives the spotlight. Polls, sentiment, the largest lobbyist, or the most popular or pragmatic sentiment becomes the most entitled to Tolerance.

 

No Virtue Remains – If all beliefs, Lifestyles, and Truth claims are equal, how can one exalt Humility? Exalt Civility over Intolerance? Bravery over Cowardice?  … All are Equal!

 

No more Conviction remains –

If there is no Truth that is more True than any other Truth…Then, there is no Truth worth defending. 

If there is no Truth worth defending, then there is no room for conviction…  

 

“Tolerance is a Virtue of a man without Conviction”

 

A Forced Privatization of Faith – Pressure to shut down any Faith that proclaims a belief in Absolute Truth. Restriction to keep Faith and beliefs in the privacy of your home. Do not display your faith in public…keep it private. They change “Freedom of Religion” to “Freedom to Worship”. Freedom of Religion is a right to bring your faith into the public square, but Freedom to Worship must be done in Private. Obama lipped this subtle nuance in his speeches. He told us that everyone has the right to worship. He was quoting from the Communist Manifesto, not the US Constitution.

 

Disintegration of Human Rights – Multiculturalism is when all culture values, beliefs, lifestyles, and truth claims are equal. If Truth and Morality are cultural creations that cannot be adequately understood between differing cultures, then there are no grounds for any person or nation to protest any other abhorrent cultural practices, e.g., widow burning, forced abortion, infanticide, clitoridectomies, etc. If one objects to such cultural practices, then one is anti-multicultural and intolerant. All beliefs are culturally defined and equally valid. One has no right to even defend Human Rights in other cultures.

 

A Tyranny of The Individual – One person can obstruct the rights of everyone. The “Opt-out” rule is no longer an option. There is now a new Civil Right, “The right to not be offended”; nor, to even have to listen to competing Truth Claims. Such descends to oppression and Tyranny. Everyone now has the right to not be challenged or offended and the majority must cease. The obscene and obscure cancels the obvious.

You Are CANCELLED

 

A Descent into Extremes – If all beliefs, lifestyles, and Truth Claims must be tolerated as equally valid, even the most outrageous and extreme claims must be granted the same treatment as all others, e.g., topless women anywhere in public, Transsexuals/Genders allowed access into dressing rooms and restrooms who mimic the opposite sex. Homosexuals and transsexuals are given preference to adopt and raise children. 

 

THE PERSONAL AUTONOMY, AUTHENTICITY, AND IDENTITY 

IS PARAMOUNT AND ALL OTHERS MUST COMPLY TO THEIR CLAIMS.

 

A Descent into Extremes – All these extremes have become norms, now. And they are part of the social imaginary. It would be extreme to reject these absurdities.

Assault on another was once considered physical, now assault is considered psychological and damaging to one’s well-being. Simply to not acknowledge their absurd personal claims is an assault to their personhood.

 

If the New Tolerance evaluates all values and beliefs as positions worthy of respect, one may reasonably ask if this includes Nazism, Stalinism, Satanism, and child sacrifice – or, for that matter, the respective stances of the Ku Klux Klan, BLM, and other assorted ethnic supremacist groups… one can only imagine…but one cannot know. 

Gnosticism is alive again.

 

 

No absolutism except for absolutism.

 

If under the aegis of this new tolerance, no absolutism is permitted, except for the absolute prohibition of absolutism, then one cannot deny this descent into these bizarre extremes without violating one’s position on tolerance.

 

An Exaltation of Nature – Environmentalism, Global Warming, animal rights, and Green Movements have equal hearing in all matters, if not, superior hearing. When there is no absolute truth, there is no basis for saying that human beings are any better than any other species. Humans have no right to have pets, since animals cannot give their permission. Farmers have no right to raise animals, since all animals are equal to humans. Even the forest and insects are equal to humans. Humans are not exceptional. They are no better than animals. A human is only valuable once it becomes a person – ask Peter Singer when that happens.

 

A Dominance of Feeling – Feelings are over Fact, Deliberation, and Decisions; emotions over reason; Style over substance; Coexistence over Truth… “How can you disagree with how I feel?” Emotivism is the rule of the day.

What was the Transition between Traditional Tolerance and The New Tolerance?

 

This shift from “accepting the existence of different views” to “acceptance of different views,” from recognizing other people’s right to have different beliefs or practices to accepting the differing views of other people, is subtle in form, but massive in substance.

 

There was a time that “everyone had a right to their own opinion”. 

 

The shift of just a few words has transformed an entire society. Now, “everyone’s opinion is right”. 

 

It continues to morph, “my opinion is right, yours is wrong”.

 

Who wins?

 

The one with the most might. And in these days, it is the mass that elect politicians who come with the power of the sword. It also comes in the form of massive corporations that control dissent, free speech, and supply. It is the death of pure capitalism and the market. Corporations have no fear of loss or competition when they join leagues with government legislation that favors their brand. 

 

Thus, The New Tolerance requires – MANDATES - Approval and Endorsement of all Lifestyles, Beliefs, and Values.

 

In contrast to “Traditional Tolerance”, the New Tolerance says that what every individual believes or says is Equally Right, Equally Valid. 

 

So, not only does everyone have an equal right to his beliefs, but All BELIEFS are equal. All VALUES are equal. All LIFESTYLES are equal. All TRUTH CLAIMS are equal.

The SELF has arisen, and the INDIVIDUAL Triumphs and is King.

 

To accept that a different or opposing position exists and deserves the right to exist is one thing; BUT, to accept the position itself means that one is no longer opposing it.

 

The New Tolerance suggests that actually accepting another’s position means believing that position to be true, or at least as true as your own.

 

We move from allowing the free expression of contrary opinions to the acceptance of all opinions; we leap from permitting the articulation of beliefs and claims with which we do not agree to asserting that all beliefs and claims are equally valid. Today’s Tolerance is intolerant not of substance but of intolerance itself.

 

                                    Thus, we slide from the old tolerance to the new.
