LESSON 5 Part 2 Promises to Israel
LESSON 5 Part 2
Promises to Israel
Promises to Israel.
God promises actual Israel, not the church, a land in a time where they will rest forever.
God is not finished with Israel! The Remnant of Israel will be revealed during the tribulation after God is finished with the Church at the Rapture.
A few promises from God that are specific to National Israel…
How can these be “spiritualized” and fulfilled by the church?
God promises Israel real “literal” dirt in a future, eschatological event.
Jer 33.25-26
25 “Thus says the LORD, ‘If My covenant for day and nightstand not, and the fixed patterns of heaven and earth I have not established,
26 then I would reject the descendants of Jacob and David My servant, not taking from his descendants rulers over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. But I will restore their fortunes and will have mercy on them.’”
Ro 11:29
For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.
Gen 12.7 - Then the LORD appeared to Abram and said, ‘‘To your offspring I will give this land.” So he built there an altar to the LORD, who had appeared to him.
Gen 13.14-15 - The LORD said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him, ‘‘Lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward, for all the land that you see I will give to you and to your offspring forever. (Both during the Millennium and the New Heavens/Earth)
Gen 15.18f - On that day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, ‘‘To your offspring I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates,
Deut 31.23 - And the LORD commissioned Joshua the son of Nun and said, ‘‘Be strong and courageous, for you shall bring the people of Israel into the land that I swore to give them. I will be with you.’’
Ezek 11.17 Therefore say, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: I will gather you from the peoples and assemble you out of the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.’
Ezek 20.33-37
Ezek 22.19 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Because you have all become dross, therefore, behold, I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem.
Ezek 28.25 ‘‘Thus says the Lord GOD: When I gather the house of Israel from the peoples among whom they are scattered and manifest my holiness in them in the sight of the nations, then they shall dwell in their own land that I gave to my servant Jacob.
Ezek 36.23-24, 38 And I will vindicate the holiness of my great name, which has been profaned among the nations, and which you have profaned among them. And the nations will know that I am the LORD, declares the Lord GOD, when through you I vindicate my holiness before their eyes.
24 I will take you from the nations and gather you from all the countries and bring you into your own land.
38 Like the flock for sacrifices, like the flock at Jerusalem during her appointed feasts, so shall the waste cities be filled with flocks of people. Then they will know that I am the LORD.’’
If asked, “Can you prove there is a God?” You may answer in one word…
“ISRAEL”
Ezek 37.21-22 then say to them, Thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I will take the people of Israel from the nations among which they have gone, and will gather them from all around, and bring them to their own land.
22 And I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel. And one king shall be king over them all, and they shall be no longer two nations, and no longer divided into two kingdoms.
Ezek 39.28 Then they shall know that I am the LORD their God, because I sent them into exile among the nations and then assembled them into their own land. I will leave none of them remaining among the nations anymore.
Dan 12.1 ‘‘At that time shall arise Michael, the great prince who has charge of your people. And there shall be a time of trouble, such as never has been since there was a nation till that time. But at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone whose name shall be found written in the book.
Hos 3.4-5 For the children of Israel shall dwell many days without king or prince, without sacrifice or pillar, without ephod or household gods.
5 Afterward the children of Israel shall return and seek the LORD their God, and David their king, and they shall come in fear to the LORD and to his goodness in the latter days.
Joel 3.20-21 But Judah shall be inhabited forever, and Jerusalem to all generations.
21 I will avenge their blood, blood I have not avenged, for the LORD dwells in Zion.’’
Amos 9.9-11 ‘‘For behold, I will command, and shake the house of Israel among all the nations as one shakes with a sieve, but no pebble shall fall to the earth.
10 All the sinners of my people shall die by the sword, who say, ‘Disaster shall not overtake or meet us.’
11 ‘‘In that day I will raise up the booth of David that is fallen and repair its breaches, and raise up its ruins and rebuild it as in the days of old,
Amos 9.14-15 I will restore the fortunes of my people Israel, and they shall rebuild the ruined cities and inhabit them; they shall plant vineyards and drink their wine, and they shall make gardens and eat their fruit.
I will plant them on their land, and they shall never again be uprooted out of the land that I have given them,’’ says the LORD your God.
Micah 2.12 I will surely assemble all of you, O Jacob; I will gather the remnant of Israel; I will set them together like sheep in a fold, like a flock in its pasture, a noisy multitude of men.
Micah 4.7 and the lame I will make the remnant, and those who were cast off, a strong nation; and the LORD will reign over them in Mount Zion from this time forth and forevermore.
Micah 4.11-12 Now many nations are assembled against you, saying, ‘‘Let her be defiled, and let our eyes gaze upon Zion.’’
12 But they do not know the thoughts of the LORD; they do not understand his plan, that he has gathered them as sheaves to the threshing floor.
Zech 8.1-8
1 ¶ And the word of the LORD of hosts came, saying,
2 ‘‘Thus says the LORD of hosts: I am jealous for Zion with great jealousy, and I am jealous for her with great wrath.
3 Thus says the LORD: I have returned to Zion and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem, and Jerusalem shall be called the faithful city, and the mountain of the LORD of hosts, the holy mountain.
4 Thus says the LORD of hosts: Old men and old women shall again sit in the streets of Jerusalem, each with staff in hand because of great age.
5 And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in its streets.
6 Thus says the LORD of hosts: If it is marvelous in the sight of the remnant of this people in those days, should it also be marvelous in my sight, declares the LORD of hosts?
7 Thus says the LORD of hosts: behold, I will save my people from the east country and from the west country,
8 and I will bring them to dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. And they shall be my people, and I will be their God, in faithfulness and in righteousness.’’
Zech 10.6-12
6 ‘‘I will strengthen the house of Judah, and I will save the house of Joseph. I will bring them back because I have compassion on them, and they shall be as though I had not rejected them, for I am the LORD their God and I will answer them.
7 Then Ephraim shall become like a mighty warrior, and their hearts shall be glad as with wine. Their children shall see it and be glad; their hearts shall rejoice in the LORD.
8 ‘‘I will whistle for them and gather them in, for I have redeemed them, and they shall be as many as they were before.
9 Though I scattered them among the nations, yet in far countries they shall remember me, and with their children they shall live and return.
10 I will bring them home from the land of Egypt, and gather them from Assyria, and I will bring them to the land of Gilead and to Lebanon, till there is no room for them.
11 He shall pass through the sea of troubles and strike down the waves of the sea, and all the depths of the Nile shall be dried up. The pride of Assyria shall be laid low, and the scepter of Egypt shall depart.
12 “I will make them strong in the LORD, and they shall walk in his name,’’ declares the LORD.
(Zech 12.2-10)
Zech 13.8-9 (The Tribulation?)
8 In the whole land, declares the LORD, two thirds shall be cut off and perish, and one third shall be left alive. (THE REMNANT?)
9 And I will put this third into the fire, and refine them as one refines silver, and test them as gold is tested. They will call upon my name, and I will answer them. I will say, ‘They are my people’; and they will say, ‘The LORD is my God.’’’
Zech 14.1 Behold, a day is coming for the LORD, when the spoil taken from you will be divided in your midst.
(The Literal Millennium)
V4 In that day his feet shall stand on the Mount of Olives that lies before Jerusalem on the east, and the Mount of Olives shall be split in two from east to west by a very wide valley, so that one half of the Mount shall move northward, and the other half southward.
V5 And you shall flee to the valley of my mountains, for the valley of the mountains shall reach to Azal. And you shall flee as you fled from the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the LORD my God will come, and all the holy ones with him.
V9 And the LORD will be king over all the earth. On that day the LORD will be one and his name one.
God said in Neh. 1:8 if you are unfaithful, I will scatter you.' but he also said...
Jer.30:18, 31:8 "Behold I will bring them from the north country and gather them from the ends of the earth."
Isa.43:5 I will bring your descendants from the east and gather you from the west...
OT promises to Israel are not negated in the NT:
Mal 3.6 ‘For I the LORD do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed.
Matt 19.28
Jesus said to them, ‘‘Truly, I say to you, in the new world, when the Son of Man will sit on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
Matt 23.37 ‘‘O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you would not!
Lk 21.24
They will fall by the edge of the sword and be led captive among all nations, and Jerusalem will be trampled underfoot by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. (Times of the Gentiles is the present Church Age and then comes the Rapture. That is the end of the times of the Gentiles – when the church is raptured)
Lk 21.29-33
And he told them a parable: ‘‘Look at the fig tree, and all the trees.
30 As soon as they come out in leaf, you see for yourselves and know that the summer is already near.
31 So also, when you see these things taking place, you know that the kingdom of God is near.
32 Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all has taken place.
33* Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.
Acts 1.-6-8
So when they had come together, they asked him, ‘‘Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?’’
7* He said to them, ‘‘It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority. (He did not correct them)
8* But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.’’
Acts 3.18-21
But what God foretold by the mouth of all the prophets, that his Christ would suffer, he thus fulfilled.
19* Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out,
20* that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus,
21* whom heaven must receive until the time for restoring all the things about which God spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets long ago.
Acts 15.14-17
14 Simeon has related how God first visited the Gentiles, to take from them a people for his name.
15* And with this the words of the prophets agree, just as it is written,
16* ‘‘‘After this I will return, and I will rebuild the tent of David that has fallen; I will rebuild its ruins, and I will restore it,
17* that the remnant of mankind may seek the Lord, and all the Gentiles who are called by my name, says the Lord, who makes these things
Romans 11
Rev 7.3-8 ‘‘Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees, until we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads.’’
4* And I heard the number of the sealed, 144,000, sealed from every tribe of the sons of Israel:
5* 12,000 from the tribe of Judah were sealed, 12,000 from the tribe of Reuben, 12,000 from the tribe of Gad,
6* 12,000 from the tribe of Asher, 12,000 from the tribe of Naphtali, 12,000 from the tribe of Manasseh,
7* 12,000 from the tribe of Simeon, 12,000 from the tribe of Levi, 12,000 from the tribe of Issachar,
8* 12,000 from the tribe of Zebulun, 12,000 from the tribe of Joseph, 12,000 from the tribe of Benjamin were sealed.
Rev 12.1-17; 14.1-5
THESE PROMISES ARE FOR
NATIONAL, ETHNIC ISRAEL
We drop the “J” Bomb! (THE "JESUS" BOMB)
2 Cor 1.20:
For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory.
